Opening Ceremony Monday, 16 June, 09:30-11:15 ‚e President of ISPO and the Chairs of the Local Organising, Scientiﬁc Programme and Technical Track Committees will oﬃcially open the I.S.P.O. 20th World Congress. Welcome remarks will be immediately followed by the Knud Jansen and IC2A Inspirational Lectures. Knud Jansen Lecture IC2A Insprational Lecture In honour of ISPO`s founding President, the prestigious Knud Jansen Lecture is an invited lecture nominated by the Executive Board and reﬂecting the speaker’s signiﬁcant contributions to ISPO and the ﬁeld of P&O. Ritu Ghosh Academics and Technical Director & Associate Professor, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences | Mobility India Rehabilitation Research and Training Centre, Bengaluru, Karnataka, India Ritu Ghosh, P&O, holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration in Health Care Services. She is the Academics and Technical Director of Mobility India (MI). Ritu has over 28 years experience in the ﬁeld of rehabilitation and assistive technology (AT). She has established national and international MI projects related to training and rehab services in over 20 countries. Ritu established the Bachelor’s (ISPO accredited) and Master’s degree P&O programmes at MI and is currently advocating for the creation of India’s ﬁrst PhD programme in P&O. She is also on the Academic Council of the National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities (NIEPMD). She has been on the Board of Studies for Allied Health Sciences in the State’s University of Health Sciences, and a P&O Expert Committee of the Rehabilitation Council of India for over two decades. Ritu has spearheaded collaboration with leading research institutes in India and internationally on innovative initiatives advancing the ﬁeld globally. Christoffer Lindhe Momentum Sweden, IC2A, Lindhe Xtend, Halmstad, Sweden Christoﬀer Lindhe is a triple amputee, a former Paralympian swimmer and the founder of his own prosthetic company Lindhe Xtend. At the age of 17, Christoﬀer lost both legs as well as his le¦ arm in a train accident. A¦er experiencing this, focusing on competitive swimming gave him something to work for and became more meaningful than athletics. By engaging with the amputee community and becoming an advocate for them, he found a real purpose in life. A¦er gaining a master’s degree in product development engineering, Christoﬀer decided to start his own company making user-friendly prosthetics, employing his own experience to drive change in everyday life for himself as well as for other amputees. With his #4 ranked YouTube channel about life as an amputee, Christoﬀer provides tremendous inspiration to countless people as he shares his personal experiences with the global limb-loss community. Christoﬀer founded the AmpisLiv Association in Sweden, which recently merged with Momentum in Norway. Both organisations are members of the international umbrella organisation IC2A and strong supporters of those living with limb-loss. Last year Christoﬀer also became a member of the board at IC2A.

Keynote speakers Tuesday, 17 June, 10:45-11:30 Wednesday, 18 June, 10:45-11:30 Prosthetics and orthotics science is the key to sustainable rehabilitation and beyond Implantable and wearable modular neuroprostheses to understand and restore neural functions Chapal Khasnabis Senior Advisor, Assistive Technology, Asian Development Bank, Geneva, Switzerland Silvestro Micera Professor of Bioelectronics, Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Pisa, Italy and Bertarelli Foundation Chair in Translational NeuroEngineering, Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Laus- anne, Lausanne, Switzerland Chapal Khasnabis is a trained prosthetist and orthotist who began his career in 1979 working at the Ministry of Health and then at the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. In 1994, he founded Mobility India, a resource centre for the Global South. In 2003, Chapal moved to the World Health Or- ganization to promote P&O and community-based rehabilitation services. While working at WHO, he developed standards and tools for training in P&O, training packages for wheelchairs, CBR guidelines and several other important documents related to disability, rehabilitation and assistive technology. In 2013, sensing the growing need for assistive medical devices, particularly in the ageing population, he moved to the Department of Essential Medicines and Health Products within WHO and developed a worldwide programme entitled “Global Cooperation on Assistive Technology” (GATE). In 2018, Chapal founded the ATscale Global Partnership for Assistive Technology and in 2022, he published the ﬁrst WHO-UNICEF Global Report on Assistive Technology. In 2023, Chapal Khasnabis retired from his position as head of the Access to Assistive Technology and Medical Devices Unit at the WHO and now works as a senior advisor for the Asian Development Bank to promote the assistive technology industry in Asia and beyond. Silvestro Micera is currently a professor of bioelec- tronics at the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna (SSSA, Pisa, Italy) and the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (Lausanne, Switzerland) where he holds the Bertarelli Foundation Chair in Translational NeuroEngineering. He received a university degree (Laurea) in electrical engineering from the Universi- ty of Pisa in 1996, and a PhD in biomedical engineer- ing from the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, in 2000. From 2000 to 2009, he was an assistant professor of biorobotics at the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna. In 2007 he won a Fulbright scholarship to study as a visiting scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, USA. From 2008 to 2011 he led the neuroprosthesis control group and was a group leader at the Institute for Automation, ETH Zurich, CH. ‚e IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society presented him with the “Early Career Achievement Award” in 2009 and the “Technical Achievement Award” in 2021. Prof. Dr Micera’s research interests include the development of neuroprostheses based on the use of implantable neural interfaces with the central and peripheral nervous systems to restore sensory and motor functions in persons with disabilities. He is the author of more than 400 WoS peer-re- viewed papers and holds several international pat- ents. He is also a member of several editorial boards of peer-reviewed journals in the ﬁelds of biomedical and neural engineering.

Wednesday, 18 June, 14:00-14:45 ‚ursday, 19 June, 10:45-11:30 Rolling together: collaborative approaches to sustainable wheelchair education Fundamentals of human movement translated into P&O practice, and back Paula Rushton Associate Professor and Director, School of Occupational —erapy, Faculty of Health, Dalhousie Univer- sity, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Han Houdijk Professor of Clinical Movement Sciences, University Medical Center Groningen, University of Groningen, Groningen, —e Netherlands Paula Rushton is an associate professor and director at the School of Occupational ‚erapy at Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. She completed her Master of Clinical Science in occupational therapy at the University of Western Ontario (1999), a PhD in rehabilitation sciences at the University of British Columbia (2010) and postdoctoral training at the Université de Montréal in Biomedical Sciences (2014). Her research focuses on assessment, intervention, knowledge translation, and education related to improving the wheeled mobility of children, adults, and older adults through an improved wheelchair service provision process. Regarding knowledge translation, assessment and intervention, Rushton is an expert in wheelchair skills and wheelchair conﬁdence. From an educational perspective, Rushton has been working with the International Society of Wheelchair Professionals to raise the proﬁle of wheelchairs as a topic on the curriculum of university courses for healthcare professionals worldwide. Han Houdijk is a professor of Clinical Movement Sciences at the University Medical Center and the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. He leads the rehabilitation section of the Department of Human Movement Sciences and is head of the Smart Movements research programme. Han initially trained as a physical therapist. He continued his education as a Human Movement Scientist at the Vrije University Amsterdam, to satisfy his curiosity into the complex elegance of the human movement system; how it allows us to perform normal daily tasks, but also what happens when this system is aﬀected by pathology. As a human movement scientist, he takes a theoretical approach and combines models from to the ﬁeld of biomechanics, exercise physiology or motor control to understand the performance of the human movement system in both a healthy and a pathological state. ‚e main focus of his research is to understand and restore walking ability of various patient populations with a strong emphasis on the use of assistive technology. Han Houdijk has published over 100 peer reviewed articles and book chapters. He actively translates his research results to clinical practice as active member and past president of ISPO-NL and initiator of the newly founded Academic Workplace for Prosthetic Use (ProtheseAcademie) funded by the Dutch Medical Science Research Council.

Programme information Science in Practice, Practice in Science: Collaboration and innovation towards sustainable rehabilitation During the four days of the congress, you can expect a high-quality scientiﬁc programme delivered by a variety of professionals from various disciplines and countries in keynote lectures, symposia, instructional courses, free papers and poster presentations. ‚ere will also be two novelties in the programme: ‚e technical track and 3 Minute ‚esis student competition: ‚e technical track has the aim to promote the fabrication arts through demonstration & hands-on fabrication instruction. During technical track sessions, techniques and generic materials will be discussed and demonstrated. To encourage early career professionals to participate actively, ISPO initiated the 3 Minute ‚esis (3MT) student competition. ‚is is an academic competition that assists current students with fostering eﬀective presentation and communication skills. Interested students registered in an undergraduate, masters or PhD programme had the chance to submit abstracts to this competition. In addition to the scientiﬁc and technical track programme, you will have the opportunity to attend practical exhibitor workshops. All sessions will be presented in English.

Awards and prizes At each ISPO World Congress, ISPO recognises outstanding achievements through various awards and prizes. Forchheimer Prize Established by the Forchheimer Family to honour the memory of Sylvia and Alfred Forchheimer, the prize is awarded to the most outstanding paper on objective clinical assessment, clinical evaluation or clinical measurement published in Prosthetics and Orthotics International during the years prior to the World Congress. Bryan and Joyce Blatchford Team Prize for Innovation Established by the Blatchford Family to honour the memory of Mr. Brian Blatchford and Mrs. Joyce Blatchford, the prize is awarded to a team that has an outstanding record of innovative achievement in the ﬁeld of prosthetics and / or orthotics, which should be related to prosthetic and/or orthotic hardware, or scientiﬁcally based new techniques that result in better prostheses or orthotics. Sepp Heim Award ‚e Sepp Heim Award was established by ISPO at the ISPO World Congress 2019 to honour Mr. Sepp Heim for his lifetime of signiﬁcant contributions to ISPO as well as the development of mobility devices (prosthetics, orthotics, and wheelchairs) education and services in less resourced settings. ‚e prize is awarded to an individual/s or institution / organisation that has made a major contribution to mobility device education and / or improving mobility devices service in less resourced settings. ISPO Best Case Study Award ‚e ISPO Best Case Study Award was established by ISPO to promote quality contributions to clinical practice. ‚e prize is awarded to the most outstanding case study submitted to the ISPO continuous professional development platform (ISPOLearn). World Congress Best Paper and Poster Prizes ‚e prizes in the following ﬁve categories are awarded by the Scientiﬁc Programme Committee of I.S.P.O. International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics ‚e International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO) is a global, multidisciplinary, non-governmental organisation aiming to improve the quality of life for persons who may beneﬁt from the rehabilitation practice of prosthetic, orthotic, mobility, and assistive technology. ISPO is sometimes misunderstood as representing only prosthetists and orthotists, but, in fact, it is far more inclusive than that. ‘P’ and ‘O’ stands for Prosthetics and Orthotics and, for more than 50 years, ISPO has provided an eﬀective platform for the exchange and communication on all aspects of the science and practice associated with the provision of mobility products (prostheses, orthoses, wheelchairs) rehabilitation engineering, wheelchairs and related areas, such as therapy. Membership is multi-disciplinary and thus includes professionals of all disciplines with an interest in the subject and the service.
